Captain America is one of the most famous and far and away the most patriotic of all comics characters. He is loved by avid and casual fans alike. In 2015, a new film featuring the much admired character was released and proved a smash hit at the box office. In fact, it became the fifth highest grossing film of all time. This Captain America Colorized Proof was part of a set of five coins issued by Niue to coincide with the movie. Part of a mintage of just 2,500 pieces, it was struck at Sunshine Minting from 1 oz of .999 fine silver. The coin remains in GEM Proof condition.

Powerful Captain America Design

The coin's obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley's right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The image, which has featured on coins for decades, depicts the monarch wearing a tiara. Her name, "ELIZABETH II," is inscribed along the rim to the left. Other rim inscriptions read, "NIUE," "TWO DOLLARS," and "2015."

On the reverse is a colorized depiction of Captain America. Decked out in red, white, and blue, he holds his shield, which features red and white stripes encircling a star, in front of him. "MARVEl" is inscribed to the right, while "CAPTAIN AMERICA" and "2015" are inscribed on the rim.
