The Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle series was inaugurated in 2014. This coin celebrates the biggest bird of prey in the Australia and the teaming up of the Perth Mint and John M. Mercanti. The reverse of this 1 oz. fine silver bullion item was designed by the former Chief Engraver of the US Mint, John M. Mercanti. Mr. Mercanti has designed over 100 US coins and medals.

The reverse depicts Australia’s largest raptor, the beautiful Wedge-Tailed Eagle, having newly landed on a tree branch. Inscriptions around the rim are: Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle, 2016 and 1 oz. .999 silver.

The obverse design features British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions of Elizabeth II, Australia and One Dollar surround the coin.
