The Dutch Lion rampant dominates the obverse. He stands on his hind legs with his tongue out and his tail sticking up as he brandishes his front paws. He is encircled by a Latin inscription, "CONFIDENS DNO NON MOVETVR" (Belief in God is not moved).

On the reverse a knight stands behind a shield. He has his head turned to the right, and his face is not covered by armor. The shield bears the same lion rampant design that appears on the obverse. "MO ARG PRO CON FOE BELG GEL" (Silver Money of the Province of the Netherlands) is inscribed along the rim.

The experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified that this coin is perfect as seen under 5x magnification by awarding it their highest grade, Proof 70. They also credited it for having heavily frosted devices that contrast sharply with deeply mirrored fields by labeling it Ultra Cameo. The grading company further certified the piece Early Releases, meaning that it was submitted to them no more than 30 days after its initial release from the mint. This information comes provided on a label that celebrates the Lion Dollar and includes a lion rampant image. The coin comes with a certificate of authenticity.
