The obverse of the coin was inspired by the famous Jean Antoine Houdon bust of George Washington located at the Virginia State Capital in Richmond, Virginia. The main design element on the reverse of the coin is an American Bald eagle with wings unfolding, clutching a quiver of arrows, situated above an oak branch.
