Why order this 2018 1/10 oz. Gold $5 American Eagle?
This $5 American 2018 1/10 oz. Gold Eagle provides an affordable choice for collectors looking for a coin with a perfect execution of the most beloved image in numismatic history. It is the smallest of four coins in the latest issue of the AGE, a series that started in 1986. This piece was struck from .9167 fine gold at the West Point Mint.
Iconic Saint-Gaudens Design
On the obverse is the beloved Saint-Gaudens design, which is so named because of the man who created it, Augustus Saint-Gaudens. At the center, Liberty stands facing the holder in a strong wind. She holds her torch, a symbol of freedom that is recognized throughout the world, in front of her and an olive branch, a symbol of peace, off to her side. To the left is a miniature rendering of the Capitol Dome. The rays of the rising sun in the background make the image particularly striking. Fifty stars, four more than appeared on the original, encircle the image.
Miley Busiek's reverse design was created specifically for this series. Busiek shows a male eagle bringing an olive branch back to his nest, where his mate tends to their young.
Flawless MS70
The experts at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this coin Mint State 70 (MS70). That grade is given only to coins that are perfect as seen under 5x magnification.
