In 2019, the Legion celebrates its 100th birthday, and the U.S Mint is sharing in the occasion with three commemorative coins. Patriotic American Legion Design by Paul C. Balan

The obverse, which Renata Gordon sculpted and Paul Balan designed, features the emblem of the American legion along with oak leaves and a lily. Together, they represent the foundation of the Legion in Paris. These designs are joined by the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2019."

The reverse also pays tribute to the foundation of the organization with the inclusion of the fleur de lis, which features just above the inscription "100 YEARS OF SERVICE." Under the inscription are the crossed flags of the United States and the American Legion. The design was created by Patricia Lucas-Morris and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso.
