After two and a half decades of Gold Kangaroos from the Perth Mint, collectors got a treat in 2016 when the mint struck its first bullion Silver Kangaroos. The young series is popular among collectors, as it features the island nation's most famous and beloved animal. This coin was struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine silver at the Perth Mint, which is represented by its famous "P" mint mark on the right side of the reverse.

A right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by British Royal Mint designer Jody Clark features on the obverse. Clark shows the monarch down to her shoulders. Her Royal Diamond Diadem sits atop her head, and she also wears earrings and a necklace. Her effigy is encircled by a rim frame in which there are three inscriptions. They include her name, "ELIZABETH II," the name of the issuing country, "AUSTRALIA," and the face value of the coin, "1 DOLLAR."

The reverse bears a left-side image of a red kangaroo by Stuart Devlin. The animal bounds powerfully against a backdrop of a stylized sun. Inscriptions along the rim offer the coin's name, "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO," its date, "2020," and its weight and purity, "1 OZ 9999 SILVER."

Perfect MS70 FDI with Black Core Holder and Kangaroo Label

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) set this coin in a black core holder and provided its grading information on a label that features a picture of a kangaroo. The grading company awarded the piece their highest grade, Mint State 70, which means that it appears flawless under 5x magnification. NGC also certified the piece First Day of Issue, a designation that is exclusive to coins submitted through an exclusive process.
