Lowell, MA, birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution

The reverse features a worker in the textile mills in Lowell, Massachusetts, birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution. The obverse features the obverse used on the circulating Washington Quarter. It has the left facing profile of First President of the U.S. George Washington. This portrait was originally designed by John Flanagan in 1932. Slight modifications occurred for the popular state quarters and ATB series. This profile portrait was based on a marble sculpture of Washington by French sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdin.
