Why add this 1/10 oz Gold 2020 $5 American Eagle to your collection?
The American Gold Eagle Series has been a collector favorite since it began in 1986. The series brings together one of the most beloved designs in the history of American numismatics and US government backing for weight and purity. Coins in the series are issued in four sizes, with this 1/10 oz piece being the smallest and most accessible. It was struck at the West Point Mint on a planchet of .9167 fine gold.
Beloved Liberty Design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens
Liberty stands at the center of Augustus Saint-Gaudens's obverse design. The design debuted on the double eagle in 1907 and remained there until 1933. Liberty faces the holder with her torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other as the wind blows her long hair and garment. The morning sun emerges in the background with its rays spreading out behind the figure, making her appear larger than life. Fifty stars represent the states along the rim, encircling the design, which also includes a small rendering of the Capitol Dome. "LIBERTY" is inscribed at the top, and "2020" is included on the right.
A male eagle returns to his nest where his mate tends to their young in Miley Busiek's reverse design. Both statutory phrases, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," appear on this face. Rim inscriptions offer the coin's country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," weight, "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD," and face value, "5 DOLLARS."
Perfect MS70 with Brown Label
This coin is in perfect condition even as seen under 5x magnification according to its Mint State 70 grade, which it received from the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). NGC provided this grade on a brown label.
