Why buy this 2021 American Silver Eagle Emergency Production NGC MS 70?

The United States Mint authorized a run of bullion Silver Eagles to be struck at the San Francisco Mint in 2020 to help mitigate increased customer demand that is partially a result of production delays related to the Covid-19 pandemic. This certified coin is part of that run of Silver Eagles and Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) has certified that this coin was struck at the San Francisco branch mint, despite its lack of a mint mark, and that is qualifies for the grading service's Emergency Production pedigree.

  • This piece was struck at the San Francisco Mint, but does not bear an "S" mint mark.
  • This coin is $1 legal tender in the United States.
  • This coin features the iconic original heraldic Eagle design by John Mercanti.
  • This coin was struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • NGC gave this coin their Emergency Production pedigree.

Iconic American Silver Eagle Design

Reverse: The reverse of this 2021 American Silver Eagle features the original design that debuted on the American Silver Eagle series in 1986, which was design by numismatic legend John Mercanti. Mercanti worked at the United States Mint for a number of years and even served as Chief Engraver during the course of his career. The reverse features a Heraldic Eagle that clutches arrows in one talon, and an olive branch in the other.

Obverse: The obverse bears a modified version of Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty Design which first appeared on the Walking Liberty Half dollar. Weinman is responsible for many iconic pieces of classic American coinage. On the obverse, Liberty strides across the face of the coin, one arm extended to the new day, as the other clutches oak and laurel branches. The year, "2020" appears on this face of the coin.

NGC Certifed Mint State 70 First Day of Issue

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified that this coin was in Mint State 70 condition. They also indicated its Struck at the San Francisco Mint status with the inclusion of an (S) in parenthesis on the label. This coin qualified for NGC's First Day of Issue designation as well as their Emergency Production pedigree. This information is relayed on a Trolley Label which is particularly appropriate for this issue from the San Francisco Mint.
