Why add this 2021 MS70 Silver American Eagle to your collection?

The United States Mint is planning to update the reverse design of bullion American Silver Eagles for the first time in the series history in mid-2021. That means that collectors have one last chance to enjoy John Mercanti's famous adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States on a 2021 dated bullion Silver Eagle.

  • This piece is $1 United States legal tender.
  • This coin was struck on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver.
  • This is the last bullion Silver Eagle to feature the original heraldic eagle reverse design.
  • The coin bears designs by Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti.
  • NGC graded this coin Mint State 70.
  • NGC certified this piece First Day of Issue.
  • This coin was given the Type-1 pedigree to note that it bears the original Mercanti Heraldic Eagle reverse design.
  • This coin comes set in a gold foil core.

Featuring the Highly Acclaimed Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman

Obverse: The obverse of Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty half dollar continues to serve as the Silver Eagle's obverse design. Liberty walks to the left with branches of laurel and oak in her left arm as the morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon. Inscriptions on this face include "LIBERTY," the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2021." Adolph Weinman was a central figure in America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance. His major contributions were the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime. He also sculpted several works that can be seen to this day in major American cities.

Reverse: The Great Seal of the United States was John Mercanti's model for the reverse design. It consists of two parts, an eagle protecting a union shield and thirteen stars, which represent the original states. They are encircled by rim inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." Over the course of his three and a half plus decades with the US Mint, John Mercanti designed more medals and coins than anyone else in his history. He also spent part of his tenure as the institution's Chief Engraver.

Impeccable MS70 FDI with Gold Foil Core

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) set this coin in a gold foil core. The grading company also certified the coin First Day of Issue and graded it Mint State 70. To receive the FDI designation, a coin must have been submitted through an exclusive profess. MS70 means that this coin appears flawless under 5x magnification.
